About Grassroots Summit ・ 日米草の根交流サミットとは
The Japan-America Grassroots Summit was established to commemorate more than 180 years of the legacy of friendship and exchange between the families of Manjiro and Captain Whitfield.
Through grassroots interactions that transcend nationality, religion, and generation, the Grassroots Summit fosters mutual understanding and works toward a more peaceful world.
This section introduces the history of the Summit, along with materials related to Manjiro and Captain Whitfield.
ジョン万次郎とホイットフィールド船長の両家によって、180年以上にわたって受け継がれてきた友情と交流を記念して始まった「日米草の根交流サミット」。国籍・宗教・職業を超えた市民同士のふれあいを通じて、相互理解を深め、平和な世界の実現を目指しています。
