CIE（ジョン万次郞ホイットフィールド記念国際草の根交流センター）の機関誌「草の根通信」は30年以上に亘って発行されてきました。
そのなかにはジョン万次郞とホイットフィールド船長に関するあまり知られていない史実、日米交流の経験や知見など、貴重な寄稿記事が含まれています。
こうした記事を埋もれさせず、多くの方々に読んでいただきたいという思いから、このセクションを設けました。
「草の根通信」は、現在120号を超えて発行を続けています。今後もこのセクションには、随時、寄稿記事を掲載していきます。

The articles in this section were written by Dr. Matthew Calbraith Perry who was given the same name as his ancestor, Commodore M.C. Perry. Every year since 2009, he has experienced Grassroots Summit exchanges in Japan and USA. He loves supporting cultural relations with Japan and writing about his experiences and the activities of his ancestor with Japan.
ペリー提督の子孫で、提督と同じ名前のマシュー・カルブレイス・ペリー博士の記事を紹介するコーナーです。博士は、2009年から毎年、日米草の根交流サミット大会に参加してきました。日本との文化交流を愛する博士は、自身の体験や、先祖の日本との関わりを記事にしたためてきました。

The Japan-America Grassroots Summit was established to commemorate more than 180-year legacy of friendship and exchange between the families of Manjiro and Captain Whitfield.
Through grassroots interactions that transcend nationality, religion, and generation, the Grassroots Summit fosters mutral understanding and works toward a more peaceful world.
